VALIS operates as a fully integrated company, managing every aspect of their solutions—from initial design to manufacturing and from installation to maintenance. This strategy ensures strict quality control, streamlined processes, enhanced efficiency, and optimized costs, resulting in a full life-cycle guarantee for all solutions and higher customer satisfaction.
Founded in 1989, the company first developed its activity as a contractor for public works in Portugal. From 1994 onwards, the company specialized in industrial acoustics, starting its activity in this field with a project for the highway concessionary BRISA, the largest operator of toll highways in Portugal. Through its brand “COMPLAGE Industrial Acoustics”, VALIS has over 30 years of experience in industrial acoustics and a portfolio of over 600.000m² of installed noise barriers in highways, railways, airports and industries.
In the mid-2000s, VALIS acquired its own steelworks factory. This expansion in activity allowed for full control of the manufacturing process and a diversified field of action, entering the manufacture of steel structures. Since 2007, VALIS has focused on export markets and currently exports 95% of its production to several clients around the world.
In 2015, after several projects with Lisbon Airport for the supply of Jet Blast Deflectors, VALIS leveraged its years of experience in noise reduction, structural engineering and airport supplies to develop a Ground Run-up Enclosure solution. That same year, VALIS was awarded its first project for construction of a GRE in Helsinki Airport, Finland. This project was a design-and-build contract and was executed swiftly and successfully by VALIS.
To this date VALIS has continued its product development to include several jet blast deflectors solutions and innovations to the vertiport infrastructure market.
The continuous investment in production capacity also allows us to serve our manufacturing (OEM) clients with the highest quality and quickest response times. These investments have focused on enhancing productivity and precision through the acquisition of several CNC machines.
VALIS manufactures steel structures for construction and public works support for many large international construction companies. Counting in its client base with companies such as Bouygues Group, Vinci Group and Balfour Beatty Group, VALIS fostered long term relationships with its partner clients for numerous projects around the world.
In a stride for quality assurance, in 2016 VALIS was certified to EN 1090, the European Standard for Steel Fabrication, and in 2020 VALIS was certified to ISO 9001, encompassing management procedures for all its activity from design to installation.
Today, VALIS Engineering’s solutions comprise several products and services adhering to FAA, European, and ICAO standards for airport equipment, as well as OEM structures manufactured from approved quality materials, in accordance with EXC2 and EXC3 execution classes as defined by EN 1090. All metal fabrications meet the most stringent specifications and criteria, prioritizing worker safety and ensuring superior quality through rigorous quality control.

Our products are developed according to the EUROCODE, ASTM, AICE, FAA, and EASA standards.
VALIS Engineering is committed to sustainable practices across our operations, from sourcing and manufacturing to project delivery.
We source steel primarily from European suppliers and aim to use 100% green steel by 2030, in line with EU low-carbon emission initiatives. Since 2023, our factory in Caldas da Rainha utilizes solar power to significantly reduce our reliance on grid electricity, providing 68% of our energy needs and improving our energy mix with renewable sources. As we distribute our products globally to nearshore and offshore clients, we prioritize low-emission transport options.
